This may not be the ideal way to convey this message, but I’ve read the proposal to relocate NWA to the Shaker Village, which, if I understand correctly, would be two stories, one with machines and the other with work benches.
I am working with the newly opened Saratoga Joinery (saratogajointery.org) which is a two story building split between work benches and machines, and it’s clear that there is a real problem in such a separation. Having work tables/benches near machines in absolutely indispensable to work flow. A two-story configuration will introduce a number of difficult work-arounds.
